Visitor suggestion verified. Wikipedia and Naval News describe Project 76 / P76 as India's indigenous conventional SSK programme for the Indian Navy. The programme entered feasibility/design-study activity in 2024 after MoD clearance to calculate the project contours; CCS sanction for detailed design was still pending in open reporting. Current open sources point to six submarines in the active plan, around 3,000 tonnes displacement, diesel-electric propulsion with DRDO AIP, indigenous sonar/communications/periscope and torpedo-tube-launched cruise missiles.
